Claimlight privacy notice
Effective July 16, 2026. Claimlight checks completed sentences without creating a social-media profile or receiving your Reddit credentials.
What is processed
After you opt in, Claimlight sends a completed sentence, an optional small amount of surrounding context, a pseudonymous installation identifier, client version, and network information needed for security and rate limiting. It does not read unrelated page content, private messages, passwords, or account cookies.
Who processes it
Claimlight uses Vercel for hosting, Neon for encrypted database storage, Upstash for short-lived rate limits and job coordination, and OpenAI for classification, evidence research, and rewrites. OpenAI receives the sentence or claim that needs analysis and may search public web sources.
Retention and deletion
Claimlight encrypts active draft text at rest and deletes an active check no later than 24 hours after creation. Canceling a check deletes its Claimlight record immediately and requests cancellation and deletion from the provider where supported. De-identified operational and feedback records expire within 30 days; aggregate metrics contain no draft or evidence text.
OpenAI background responses require temporary application state so results can be completed and retrieved. Claimlight requests non-persistent responses, but OpenAI may retain background-response state temporarily and standard abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days unless a different approved data-control policy applies. See OpenAI API data controls.
Your control
Claimlight never publishes, rewrites, or inserts a citation without your explicit action. You can disable Claimlight globally or by supported site, mark a sentence as opinion, cancel a check, or use the extension's deletion control to remove both the local credential and its associated Claimlight API records. Claimlight API data is not used to train models, and Claimlight does not sell personal information.
Chrome Limited Use
Claimlight's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs and Chrome extension surfaces complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Data is used only to provide and secure the user-facing evidence-checking feature.
Security and changes
Claimlight uses short-lived sessions, encrypted transport, encrypted draft storage, request limits, strict source validation, and minimum browser permissions. No system is perfectly secure. Material changes to this notice will update the effective date and release notes before they take effect.
Questions and deletion requests
Use the Claimlight support page for troubleshooting, correction appeals, and the Chrome Web Store support channel. Do not include private draft text in a support request.
